Na závěr přehledu akvaristicky zajímavých sumců jsme si nechali jejich vůbec nejpočetnější čeleď. Krunýřovcovití (Loricariidae) zahrnují aktuálně zhruba 870 platných druhů, několik stovek člověkem již zaznamenaných, leč nepopsaných forem, mezi nimiž se mohou skrývat mnohé další nové druhy, a bezesporu také ještě blíže nespecifikovatelný počet druhů, o kterých lidstvo dosud vůbec neví.

Naposledy ještě na chvíli zamíříme mezi krunýřovce „typu ancistrus“ a představíme si některé velké zástupce z podčeledi Hypostominae v užším smyslu.
